Mamey Sapote Jam

Written by fruit   // January 13, 2006   // 2 Comments

A yummy way to make use of a glut of mamey sampotes. The orange juice mixed with the pulp gives a wonderful flavour. A sweet and unusual jam.

Ingredients

Mamey Sapote pulp
Orange juice
Sugar – equal quantities with MS pulp
Limes
Pectin

Steps
1. Mix Mamey Sapote Pulp with Orange Juice and blend to a smooth flowing consistency.
2. Bring to boil, and add sugar to dissolve
3. Add the juice of a few limes
4. Add pectin as specified on the packet.
5. Simmer for 10 – 15 minutes, until the jam starts to thicken. You can test this with a few drops on a plate which has been placed in the freezer for 5 minutes. Once it starts to wrinkle, the jam is ready.
6. Pour into sterilised jars.
