Produced in Australia by the CSIRO, this massive book is an inspiration for people to grow and try new foods. It is an extensive guide to temperate and subtropical fruit and nut plants. The A-Z guide presents over 300 species with information on cultivation and propagation, harvesting times and yields, storing and using the produce and the most popular varieties. There is particular emphasis on the nutritional and health benefits of the fruit r nut described. Within these main entries, there are brief descriptions of over 250 similar species, expanding the coverage of the book still further. Illustrated with colour photos. 480pp

Comment from Regina Parsons at Wide Bay Branch of the RFCA:
"What I particularly liked was the index at the front. Don't you hate having to try and hold open a big book whilst searching the index at the back. Another great feature is that you can see at a glance the description of the fruit or nuts flavour because it is printed in a different colour. You immediately know if the flavour appeals to your without searching through the entire description."
