Green Paw-Paw with Coconut Milk

1 green paw-paw peeled & shredded 1 large onion
1 clove garlic 1 medium tomato
2 fresh red chillies (optional) 2 tbsp vegetable oil
1/3 tsp turmeric powder salt to taste
1 cup thin coconut milk
Heat oil in a pan and add chopped onion, garlic and tomato. Fry for 2 minutes, then put in paw-paw, sliced chillies and salt. Pour in half a cup of the coconut milk and stir well, cook on moderate heat for around 10 minutes. Pour in remaining coconut milk, bring almost to boil then turn down low. Stir continually to prevent coconut sauce from curdling, add salt to taste. Serve with steamed rice.
